HALLOWEEN COMPETITION OPEN UNTIL 1st SEPTEMBER 2023

Welcome to Yorick Radio!

Started in 2020 by Rosie Beech, Yorick Radio Productions is a podcast show all about performance and literary creativity, where listeners come together to enjoy the creative talent of a huge spectrum of authors. We want to play together with the creative chaos of the universe, experiment with new and bizarre imaginings, and share it all with our fantastic audience.

Based in Scotland, Yorick Radio Productions publishes work from around the world, and has a global listener base, stretching all the way from Australia to the Americas – via Europe because otherwise it’s the Pacific and, from what our stats show, sharks aren’t big on radios. We believe stories should be accessible to everyone (even sharks), and we believe that podcasts can convey stories and voices in a powerful and compelling way. Audio’s flexibility, accessibility, and ability to captivate the audience takes us on wonderful journeys that stick in the mind and stay with us long after we’ve stopped listening. All of our team are entertainers at heart, and our aim is to provide a safe, inclusive creative space that gives people the chance to build and share their wonderful and wild ideas. We’re committed to helping new writers of all kinds find support. For more information about how you can submit your work, please see our Submissions Guidelines page.

Each of our regular segments were born out of a desire to explore and experiment. From theatre to short stories to poetry, we analyse, appreciate and celebrate it all. Some of our regular segments include:

Theoretically Theatrical: A documentary style series dedicated to theatre, creative pursuits and behind the scenes secrets that everyone wants to know.

Scintillating Stories: Our regular segment where we read the fantastic work submitted to us, as well as some old classics.

Page Parle:  Page Parle often goes hand in hand with Scintillating Stories as a way to hear the author’s perspective on their work. We interview writers and performers about the hard work that goes into their creativity.

Radio Revelry: This segment is dedicated to radio plays. Radio Revelry was a big step forward for Yorick and our ambition to upscale the performance element of our work. Producing plays is hard, Dude! Thankfully, we work with a host of amazing actors who can bring your stories to life. Tragedy, comedy, history: it all has a home here.

Cosy Critiques: Created by our resident reviewer Cat out of their passion for analysing the media they consume. We talk with experts about their love for all forms of media, and some of their pet peeves too. Books, movies, plays, poems: if you have a critique then we want to hear it!

Under Construction: Our newest segment is where we have a good, close  look at audience submitted work* and take it apart to see where it falls down, and how we can help it get back up again; taking that idea of yours a step further to give the writing a nudge in the right direction before it’s finished. With a little bit of light roasting and a healthy helping of constructive feedback, it’s a fun way for us all to improve together.

*Please note, that only work submitted specifically to the Under Construction category will be used in this segment.

Have a listen to our latest podcast episodes, or submit some of your own writing and see if you might end up featuring on our show.
