When’s the next submission slot open?
We have regular submission slots scheduled throughtout the year. Follow us on social media for updates on when we’re open next.

When can I expect a response from you after submitting my work?
We aim to get back to all authors who’ve submitted work within six weeks of our submission window closing, however, depending on the volume of submissions, this may take longer. If you have not heard back from us within 10 weeks, you can get in touch with us through our email address on our Contact Us page.

How do you select writers for an interview?
We might choose authors whose work has been particularly intriguing for us or posed questions that we think our listeners might be interested in hearing more about. We might also ask authors if the quality of their work has particulalry impressed and inspired us, and we think that their knowledge of the art might be helpful for other aspiring writers.

Will publishing with Yorick affect my ability to publish in print as well.
Yorick is only seeking audio rights, not the rights to print. You can still submit to other print or electronic publishers, though we ask that you do inform them of being published at Yorick if you’re submitting the same piece work. Some publishers don’t ask for audio rights, while others do, so it depends on the contracts you sign with them.
*
Do you pay?
No. At this point in time, Yorick is not able to pay for publishing rights. We are a team of volunteers who all have day jobs, and so this podcast survives on our love of literature and coffee fumes. We don’t earn any money from the podcast, but as soon as we can make this happen, our authors will be the first to benefit from it.
*
Are you looking for staff to help with editing or acting?
No. At this point in time, we’re not looking for anyone to help edit, produce our podcasts or to act in them. We’re hoping there will come a time soon where we can open our doors and seek new people to help us with the workload, and we’ll let you know when we do!
*
Can I email you my submission instead?
No. We only accept submissions through our submissions page. You can click on the ‘Submit to Yorick’ button on our submissions page or, if you’re having trouble with that, simply click this link:

What if my submission is over the word/page limit?
If your work is over the limit, then please give it an edit to bring it in line with our submissions guidelines. If your work is significantly over, or can’t be cut, then unfortunately we won’t be able to accept it.

I have a play I want to submit, but it was originally a stage/screen. Is this ok?
The answer is both yes and no. Because we produce podcasts, nothing in your play will be seen by the audience. That means that if you wrote your play to be performed on stage or screen, there will likely be a lot of visual elements lost. If your story makes sense and can be understood with no stage directions and only using sound effects, then it might still work. If not, then it won’t. Generally, if a play is submitted and it has not been formatted for audio recording, we’ll reject it. Our advice for your best chance at your submission being accepted, edit your stage/screenplay thoroughly before you send it to us to make sure it’s suitable for radio.

Do you give feedback on submissions?
At this time, we do not offer feedback for submissions.
